Halo ("the app", listed on Google Play as Halo AI: Vedic Cosmic Almanac) is a cosmic almanac built on Vedic astrology, by Techbyt: rasi charts, panchangam and the Tamil calendar, porutham matching, Rasi Palan, dashas, the Sankalpa practice pages, guided breathing and meditation, and the "Ask the Universe" chat. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes and how to delete it.
To compute a chart you give a name, birth date, birth time and birth place, and optionally a gender and a relation (self, spouse, child…). Saved charts, saved porutham matches, your sankalpa and journal entries, saved meditations, and chat history are stored on your phone in the app's local database. The feeling you pick on the Today page (still, clear, restless, heavy or glad) is kept on your phone for that day only; Halo keeps no history of it.
You can use Halo without an account. If you sign in with Google or with an email and password, sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google), which stores your email address, name (for Google sign-in) and a user ID. While you are signed in, your primary profile (name, birth details, rasi and nakshatra), your saved charts and your "Ask the Universe" conversations are synced to your own record in Cloud Firestore (Google), readable only by you. Sankalpa, journal and saved porutham matches are not synced.
Halo Premium can be unlocked for invited testers. If you enter a tester code, the app sends it to our server with your sign-in token so the server can check it; the server counts attempts per day and stores the counts. If you ask for tester access instead, the app sends the email address you type, your user ID and the app version, which the server keeps in a request list that the developer reads by hand and answers by email. Deleting your account deletes that request.
When you use the chat, the app sends your message, the recent conversation, and a summary of the chart you picked — placements, the running dasha, today's transits and panchangam, and your five newest saved porutham matches (names, birth stars and score) — to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini model to write the reply. The server counts your messages to apply daily, weekly and monthly limits and, without Premium, the three free questions an account may ask; it stores those counts, not the messages. It also counts, across all readers and with no link to you, which topic each question was about (for example career or marriage) and which chart detail the chat could not answer from, so we know what to add to Halo next. Google processes the request as our service provider under its own terms (ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms). The chat is private to you; nothing is shown to other users.
If you choose a palm reading, the photo of your palm that you take or pick is made smaller on your phone and sent with your message to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini to write the reading. Halo does not save the photo: it is not stored on our server, not kept in your chat history and not synced; only the text of the reading is kept, like any chat message. A tarot reading sends the three cards the app drew, as text. Both readings need Premium and are paid for through Google Play, which handles the payment.
If you type a note on the Breathe screen, the app sends that note, the goal and length you chose and your language to our server, which asks Gemini to shape a breathing session from Halo's own reviewed lines. With Premium, the Sankalpa cards (the line for today, the prompt after a breath, the month on the Path, and which reviewed line each daily reminder uses) send our server a short summary: your resolve or the day's sentence, the day's tithi and nakshatra, the mood you marked, and counts of what you practised. The weekly reflection in the Journal sends this week's journal entries, and only when you tap "Reflect on my week". The server counts these requests to apply a daily limit and stores the counts, not what was sent. Without Premium the cards are written on your phone and nothing is sent.
Choosing a theme plays a meditation built on your phone; nothing is sent. With Premium you can also describe what is on your mind: the app then sends that note, the theme and length you chose, your language and whether you hold a sankalpa to our server, which asks Google's Gemini to choose and order lines from Halo's own fixed, reviewed list. The AI never writes the spoken words. The server counts these requests to apply a daily limit and stores the counts, not your note. A meditation you keep is stored on your phone only and is not synced.
The voice you hear in Breathe, Yoga Nidra and the meditations is a set of recordings shipped inside the app, made in advance with ElevenLabs. Playing them sends nothing anywhere.
Halo Premium is sold through Google Play Billing. We never see your card or payment details. Our server checks the purchase with Google and records on your account whether Premium is active and when it expires. Cancelling a subscription is done in Google Play.
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, your approximate location from your IP address, and information about ad interactions and app performance, under Google's advertising policy. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Premium removes ads.
If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (Google) sends us a crash report: the stack trace, the device model, the Android version, the app version and an installation ID. We use it only to find and fix bugs.
Halo can ask for your approximate (not precise) location to set the city your panchangam is computed for. It is asked once, you can decline, and the app then uses your time zone instead. The location is turned into a city name on your phone and only that city is stored, on your phone. It is not sent to our server and is not used for ads. Halo never asks for background location.
Every Halo notification is created on your phone, and each one starts switched on: the morning Rasi Palan, festival, vratham and occasion reminders, the sankalpa returns and streak notice, the three daily check-ins ("How are you feeling now?") and the evening invitation to Ask the Universe. Vratham reminders and the morning, midday and evening sankalpa returns are sent only with Halo Premium. To choose what a check-in suggests, the app looks on your phone at whether you returned to your sankalpa, took a breath or wrote in your journal today; the evening invitation looks at whether you opened the chat today. None of this leaves the device. Each can be switched off in the app (Sankalpa → Profile; festivals and vrathams on the Calendar; an occasion in its own settings) or in your phone's notification settings.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not use your birth details or chats for advertising, and we have no analytics of our own beyond the crash reports above. Our server keeps daily totals (how many accounts exist, how many have Premium, and how many AI requests were made) to watch costs; these are counts with no names, messages or birth details.
All data sent from the app travels over HTTPS. Firestore access is limited by security rules to your own account.
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your sign-in and everything stored in your account (profile, charts, chat history, Premium status and usage counts). Data on your phone stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall Halo. Without the app: see how to request deletion. You can also delete any saved chart, match or conversation at any time in the app.
Account data is kept until you delete it or your account. Crash reports are kept by Firebase for a limited period and then removed automatically.
Halo is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes, the new version is posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
Settings → Send feedback opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. It includes what you write plus the app version, phone model, Android version, app language, theme, chart style and the screen you came from, all shown in the email before you send it. Nothing is sent unless you press send in your email app, and we then receive it like any email, with your email address. We use it only to answer you and fix the problem.
